3000 Students Trained by the Career Counselling Office .. The University Of Bahrain Holds the Second Virtual Career Fair for the Banking and Insurance Sector

The University of Bahrain hosted a number of employers from various sectors, to communicate with university students, and offer employment and training opportunities in the annual “Career Fair” as one of the quick ways to help provide a promising future career for university students, and integrate them into the labor market.

The Career Counselling Office, part of the Office of Vice-President for Community Service and Alumni Affairs at the University of Bahrain organized the 2nd virtual career fair under the patronage of the President of the University, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahki, in collaboration with the banking and insurance sectors, on Wednesday 10 November 2021.

The President of the University indicated the role of the Career Counselling Office in directing and guiding students and graduates. The office could, during the past academic year, despite the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic, employ 170 graduates, and train 2,945 male and female students in career and training opportunities at labor sector institutions. She stressed that the University is committed to achieving its strategic objectives and supporting Bahrain Vision 2030 and the work program of the government to contribute to achieving the national aspirations for the renaissance of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

For his part, the Vice-President for Community Service and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Saleh Al-Ansari, stated, “The Career Fair provided university students with an opportunity to learn about the banking and insurance sectors in the Kingdom of Bahrain and to closely get to know the main departments in the banking institutions. The Fair contained a set of valuable counseling programs and job and training opportunities. It also hosted a constellation of institutions characterized with social responsibility and community partnership.

Representatives of the banking sectors briefed the attendants about their institutions, job opportunities therein, and the opportunities that could be provided to students and graduates at the University of Bahrain. They also replied to Students’ questions and inquiries about training programs and opportunities at the participating institutions, namely Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait, Al Salam Bank, Gulf Insurance Group, Solidarity, and Bahrain National Insurance Company.

Representatives of the institutions also answered students’ questions about how to apply for internship opportunities in companies, how to build a communication network in different sectors such as insurance, new challenges facing job seekers regarding the emergence of new developments in disciplines such as information technology, and the importance of choosing appropriate professional certificates compatible with the relevant specialization and field of work, such as CPA and CMA certificates in the financial and banking sector.

On the second day of the Career Fair, 17 November 2021, the university will host the communications, industry and science sector, in the presence of the participating parties, including the telecommunications companies; Batelco, Zain, and “STC”, in addition to the Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco), and the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC).

It is noteworthy that the University held the first Career Fair, with the participation of institutions from the banking sector, on Monday August 30, 2021.
