Annual Forum for Graduate Students at the University of Bahrain Dr. Qader Calls on Graduate Students to Innovate and Register Patents

The Vice President of the University of Bahrain for Academic Programs and Graduate Studies, Dr. Mohammad Reda Qader, called on graduate students to innovate in their scientific research, register patents, help develop new products and put them on the market.
The Vice President gave a speech during the annual forum for graduate students last Wednesday (December 28, 2022), held at the e-learning center on the university’s campus in Sakhir.
Dr. Qader stressed the importance of researchers continuing to practice scientific research, and employing research tools even after graduation, in a way that helps sustain research activity, stressing that many graduate students are able to publish their research in refereed and indexed scientific journals.
He said: “Scientific publishing in indexed scientific networks raises the status of the researcher, their university and their country.”
The Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at the university organized a scientific forum with the participation of graduate students, aimed at developing students’ research skills, thus contributing to the advancement of research production.
During the forum, a faculty member at the College of Arts, Dr. Tawfik Abdelmoniem Tawfik, and a faculty member at Bahrain Teachers College, Dr. Hasan Mohsin Alwadi, presented two papers on preparing a research plan proposal, and meetings with the thesis supervisor. Then Followed a presentation on the university thesis layout and use of university resources by faculty member at the College of Arts, Dr. Ahmed Saad Galal, and a faculty member at the College of Science, Dr. Simon Berna. A faculty member at the College of Law, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Abdul Naeem, presented a paper on qualifying researchers to possess the skills of writing scientific research. Dr. Hayat Abdulla Yousuf, a faculty member at the College of Engineering, spoke on developing oral presentation skills and academic communication.
In addition, faculty member at the College of Engineering, Prof. Ebrahim Abdulla Mattar, presented a paper on academic writing and intellectual integrity.
For her part, the Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at the University of Bahrain, Dr. Athraa Abbas Al-Mosawi, said the forum, which included several intensive workshops to train students on skills of preparing, writing and presenting research, is an introduction a symposium to be held at the end of the second semester, which aims to review students’ research output in well prepared and credible scientific papers, likely to be held in May of next year 2023.
The forum concluded with a panel discussion on requirements for completing research, to be published in the next forum, and refereed scientific journals, in which several professors and graduate students participated.
