In a Workshop on Transforming Higher Education with Microsoft Dr. Mudhahka University of Bahrain Succeeded in Meeting the Requirements of Digital Transformation

The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahka, said the National University has made a great leap in meeting the requirements of digital transformation and succeeded in embracing many digital services, to serve its academic and administrative staff in addition to students.

The president spoke during an online workshop, organized by the University of Bahrain, titled “Transforming Higher Education with Microsoft”. Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Systems at the College of Information Technology, Dr. Amal Mohamed Al-Rayes managed the workshop, which was attended by representatives from Microsoft, in addition to a number of deans, heads of departments and members of the academic staff, on Tuesday (January 3, 2022).

Dr. Al-Mudhahka added that the two-day workshop is in line with Universioty of Bahrain’s vision and mission of to become a world-class university as an educational, research and pioneering institution, while aligning its objectives with the government’s action plan and the economic vision of the Kingdom of Bahrain 2030. She stressed the university’s keenness on continuous cooperation with partners, such as its cooperation with Microsoft, and making full use of the capabilities it offers, which contributes to generating ideas and developing innovative paths for proper education.

For his part, Microsoft General Manager in Oman, Bahrain and Pakistan, Sheikh Saif Hilal Al Hosni, pointed out the need for quality education along with the quality of technology to provide effective solutions for students, stressing the importance of aligning the university’s strategy and the company’s strategy to work on building and implementing a digital transformation plan over the coming years.

The workshop was attended by Hamad Ahmed Al-Saie, Education Sector Leader at Microsoft Middle East, and Ikhlas bint Ibrahim Al-Abdwani, Director of Education at Microsoft Bahrain and Oman. In addition to keynote speakers, Microsoft Customer Success Manager Solange Jarjour, and Microsoft Education Specialist Middle East and Africa Dr. Odeh Tahla.

On its first day, the workshop discussed the need and necessity of transformation in education, technology trends and jobs for year 2030 students, the framework for transformation of higher education, student success and life cycle management, in addition to teaching and learning, and skills for the future.

The theme of the workshop the following day will also focus on providing a framework for a customized education system that will enable the university to reach its full potential through four main pillars: student success, teaching and learning, academic research, and a safe and connected campus.
