Students of College of Information Technology at University of Bahrain Develop Projects that Serve Various Professional Sectors

The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahka, honored winners of graduation project competition at the College of Information Technology, which amounted to nine projects (three from each major). The projects were judged by faculty members and some officials in the public and private sector, who lauded the innovative ideas presented by students in their graduation projects.

 

Last week, the University of Bahrain President inaugurated the graduation project exhibition of the College of Information Technology which included around 60 projects that provide services and solutions in various professional sectors. The projects kept pace with contemporary technologies in modern and advanced fields including artificial intelligence, machine learning, algorithms, the Internet of Things, block chain, natural language processing, image processing, electronic games, business analysis, and facial and speech recognition technologies.

 

The jury announced that an application project titled “Hazardous Waste Collection Plan Using a Group of Drones” won the first place in the Department of Computer Science, the project titled “Real Estate on Blockchain Technology” won the second place, and the project titled “Predicting Digital Currency Prices Using Trend Analysis and Machine Learning” won the third place.

 

The jury also announced that the project titled “Selling and Donating through the Used Goods Program” project won the first place in the Information Systems Department, the study titled “Sharing of Fake News on Social Media in the Kingdom of Bahrain and its Impact on the Individual and Society” won the second place, and the application project titled “My Craft – A Digital Business Platform for Arts and Crafts” won the third place.

 

In the Department of Computer Engineering, the jury announced that the project titled “Air Quality Monitoring System Using Low-Cost Sensors” won the first place, the project titled “Using Voice Recognition Technology in Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator” won the second place, and the project titled “Implementation of a 32-bit Processor Based on Reduced instruction set Computer Using Integrated Hardware Description Language” won the third place.

 

It is worthy to note that this exhibition is held at the end of each semester and is a prerequisite for graduation from the College of Information Technology. The exhibition receives attention from various professional sectors as it demonstrates the best scientific outcomes for students during their study. These outcomes are the bases that qualify students to provide solutions and innovations that can overcome current and future challenges to serve the labor market and entrepreneurship and drive further economic progress in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
