The first Artificial Intelligence Applications Hackathon will be launched at the University of Bahrain next February. It will be held in Benefit Advanced Artificial Intelligence & Computing Laboratory at the College of Information Technology.

The hackathon challenge aims to develop the capabilities of students interested in artificial intelligence applications, build applications to solve local problems in the Kingdom of Bahrain, such as predicting the size of energy consumption and finding methods to generate electricity, as well as finding solutions to many other problems that artificial intelligence can resolve.

The hackathon will start on Monday, February 6, with an orientation session to explain competition laws to participants. The hackathon will include lessons on how to build applications on laboratory computers, especially applications for machine learning and artificial intelligence. The competing teams will also be asked to identify problems and start searching for appropriate data, and then start implementing the application.

The final session will be held on Thursday, February 9, with the applications and projects of the competing students presented to the jury consisting of some academians and specialists in artificial intelligence.

The University of Bahrain has equipped the laboratory of advanced computing and artificial intelligence with the support of Benefit Bahrain. The laboratory provides supercomputers that enable developers of artificial intelligence applications and scientific computing to complete their scientific experiments in record time compared to ordinary computers. These computers are used by researchers and students of undergraduate and postgraduate programs to learn to build super apps.

It is worth noting that students from the University of Bahrain and Bahrain Polytechnic can participate in the competition. Applicants can register online to participate in a team consisting of two or three students, via the following link: https://forms.gle/6FJ8XyxGWNUZcHjU8.
