Dr. Al Mudhahka Receives the Deaf Students Participating in National Day Celebration The UoB President Emphasizes the Active Role of People of Determination in University Activity and Society

The President of the University of Bahrain (UoB), Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahka, affirmed her happiness with the academic and professional excellence witnessed by the National University, to develop students of determination’s capabilities and stimulate their creativity, and to provide supportive technologies to improve students’ educational experience and their participation in classroom and extra-curricular activities.

The University President, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahka, received the deaf students who participated in the National Day ceremony, at her headquarters in Sakhir on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, emphasizing the active role of people of determination in university activities and the society.

Dr. Al-Mudhahka mentioned that the National University embraces this category of students, and is keen to provide educational opportunities, means of support, and specializations in accordance with their capabilities and the needs of the labor market.

The meeting discussed aspects of the academic and practical experience of deaf and hearing-impaired students, the obstacles they may face at the university level, and the support services they receive to develop their personal and practical skills, in order to become active members at various levels.

The meeting was attended by the Director of the English Language Center, Dr. Dana Abdullah Abdelrahim, the head of the Division for People with Special Needs at the Deanship of Student Affairs, Nada Mohammed Al-Ali, the sign language interpreter assigned by the Ministry of Education, Fatima Al-Sabbagh, and the second research and teaching assistant at the English Language Center, Eman Al-Balushi. In addition to second-year deaf students from the College of Arts, namely: Sana Abdelqader, Abdullah Abdelqader, Mohammed Malas, Ahmed Aqeel, and Fatima Ali.
