Dr. Haifa Bint Ibrahim: Majors Expos Light the Way for Secondary School Students UoB’s College of Engineering Introduces Its Programs at the “Engineering Majors” Expo

The College of Engineering at the University of Bahrain (UoB) introduced secondary school students to the nine academic programs it offers at the undergraduate level and presented a number of its students’ graduation projects at the Engineering Majors Expo, organized by the Bahrain Society of Engineers.

The Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, Minister of Education, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma’a, inaugurated the Engineering Majors Expo in its ninth edition yesterday (March 1, 2023) at the headquarters of the Bahrain Society of Engineers in Juffair, with the participation of six local universities.

While the Dean of the College of Engineering at UoB, Dr. Shaikha Haifa bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, confirmed that the College is keen to help secondary school students and light up their path to be able to choose their university track by introducing engineering majors, their features, and their professional future.

Moreover, Dr. Haifa bint Ibrahim praised the Engineering Majors Expo, which the Society of Engineers regularly organizes, and said: “Such specialized exhibitions help students discover the tracks that suit their inclinations and abilities, so that they can move to the university level with adequate awareness and conviction of the program they wish to join.”.

“This specialized exhibition was also an opportunity to showcase the distinguished graduation projects of our students in various academic programs, so that visitors to the exhibition could witness the capabilities and skills acquired by the College’s graduates.” She added.

For her part, Dr. Nihal Ali Al-Murbati, member of the Events Committee and a faculty member in the Department of Architecture and Interior Design at the College of Engineering at UoB, mentioned that the College of Engineering’s booth attracted numerous visitors, who asked the professors several questions. As Al-Murbati stated: “The students’ projects, during the past two days, also attracted the attention of secondary school students, namely: robots, electronic arms, and the rest of the innovative projects.”. Emphasizing the importance of “visitors leaving the expo with a collection of knowledge and a concrete idea of what engineering sciences can offer in terms of innovations and works.”

It is worth noting that the College of Engineering at UoB offers nine bachelor’s programs, which are: mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, process instrumentation & control, civil engineering, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, architecture, and environmental architecture.
