Discussing the Effects of Vision 2030 On the Legislative and Economic Fields UoB Organizes a Conference on Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 And Its Effective Impact

The University of Bahrain (UoB) is preparing to hold its international conference, “The Kingdom of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and Its Effective Impact on The Legal and Economic Fields,” from the 19th to the 20th of March.

The UoB President, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahka, confirmed that the economic vision launched by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the country, in October of 2008, represents a fundamental basis for achieving development and developing the economy, with interest in improving standard of living for citizens of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Dr. Al-Mudhahka explained that the economic vision, which relies on basic principles represented in competitiveness, justice, and sustainability, is not only a national document, but rather an integrated system that includes the administrative and legal aspects for the advancement of the country, among others. As the conference sheds light on the national vision, its dimensions and effects on both the legal and administrative dimensions.

Moreover, she stated that UoB – as the national university – is keen to contribute with its expertise and capabilities to highlight the economic impact of the vision, the role of legislation and the judiciary in achieving it, the implications of the vision for reality, and its effective impact in the legal and economic fields.

For his part, the Dean of the College of Law, Dr. Salah Mohammed Ahmed, said, “The economic vision, which aims to develop the business and investment environment, did not overlook the requirements of providing a balanced legislative environment.” Explaining that the Conference seeks to monitor the implications of Bahrain’s economic vision 2030, and comparative visions on common law jurisdictions, and demonstrating the impact of vision and comparative visions on private law jurisdictions.

Moreover, the Dean of the College of Law stated that the Conference, which attracts researchers, academics, legal and judicial bodies, and relevant specialists, will witness the presentation and discussion of more than 24 scientific research, during five sessions over two days.

For his part, Dr. Abdullah Khaled Al-Jalahma, Head of the Accounting Department at the College of Business Administration, said the Conference discusses two main axes, the first of which is related to the legal field, and the second is related to the economic field, as it discusses sustainable economic development, managing economic crises, the money and business market, supporting private projects, and attracting investment.

Dr. Al-Jalahma confirmed that the economic vision is focused on transforming the Kingdom of Bahrain’s economy into a competitive and dynamic economy, characterized by innovation and creativity, in a way that helps in its sustainability, pointing out that many of the economic scientific papers participating in the Conference deal with such issues.

Furthermore, he said: “The Conference will also discuss the balance between the requirements of economic growth and sustainable development in its various dimensions, as the economic vision was keen to consider the principle of sustainability in all sectors, because of its impact on the rights of generations and their future.”.

Researchers and academics from UoB and the Gulf and Arab countries, such as: the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Yemen, Egypt and others, will be participating in the Conference organized by the Colleges of Law and Business Administration, and it will be held at the E-learning Center at UoB.
