During stc Bahrain’s Meeting with Participants in The JeelICT Program Dr. Al-Ansari: UoB Continues to Enhance Graduates’ Chances to Be the Labor Market’s Best Option

Vice President for Community Service and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Saleh Al-Ansari, affirmed that “the University of Bahrain (UoB) wastes no time in making efforts to seize opportunities that contribute to qualifying and raising graduates’ efficiency, and enhancing their chances to be the best option for employment in the labor market.”
This came in a speech delivered by Dr. Al-Ansari during a meeting organized by the Career Counseling Office at UoB, in cooperation with stc Bahrain, to introduce the Bahraini Graduate Development Program (JeelICT), explaining that supporting such professional programs is an integral part of the University’s strategy towards applying social responsibility and empowering Bahraini youth. This program was designed to enable our Bahraini youth to develop their skills in technical fields that contribute to the development of the telecommunications sector and support the journey of digital transformation in the Kingdom. This initiative came in partnership with stc to improve graduates’ experience and enable them to obtain valuable jobs and to positively contribute to society”.
In addition, the JeelICT program aims to develop Bahraini fresh graduates in the fields of information and communication technology.
For his part, Director of Talent Development at stc Bahrain, Hashim Derbas, gave a presentation, in which he described the Graduate Development Program and its objectives, stressing that the program began to grow through training a larger segment. He further explained that the current (third) version has 33 participants of graduates from different specializations, while the number of participants did not exceed eight graduates in the first edition, launched in 2012.
Moreover, Derbas stated that, “The program is open to all majors, with a high GPA in a bachelor’s degree, aged between 20 and 23 years old.”
Derbas added that the program duration is one year with a month of vacation, and it includes developing the skills of graduates in: wired and wireless network connections, big data, augmented reality, development operations, the Internet of things, blockchains, in addition to cyber and informatics security, and the participant are required to submit two projects during the training period. Graduates participating in the program will receive benefits provided by the company, and a certificate.
