A Team from The Ministry of Interior Learns About the Technologies of “Cloud Innovation Center” At UoB

A team from the Ministry of Interior visited the “Cloud Innovation Center” at the University of Bahrain (UoB) recently, to learn about the modern technologies and applications in the Center. As the team members viewed some of the projects and research the Center is currently working on in cooperation with Amazon Cloud Computing, with the support of the Labor Fund (Tamkeen), in addition to the contribution of several government agencies.
This visit comes within the framework of enhancing cooperation and the exchange of experiences and knowledge between UoB and the Ministry of Interior.
The Ministry of Interior employees expressed their interest in the modern technologies used by the Center, praising the efforts in developing these technologies to serve government institutions and society alike, and noting the importance of cooperation between government and academic agencies, in addition to cooperation with international technical institutions in achieving innovation and developing innovative technological solutions that improve security and safety in the community.
During their tour inside the Center, the team was accompanied by the Dean of the College of Information Technology, Dr. Hessa Jassim Al-Junaid, and the Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science, Dr. Abdullah Ahmed Al-Asadi, in addition to specialists from Amazon Cloud Computing: Nidal Al-Basha, Rami Shattat, and Wael Al-Khumoor.
It is noteworthy that the two cloud innovation centers at UoB are among the most recent centers joining eight other centers around the world. The Center aims to accelerate digital transformation in the public sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the region, by coordinating between various institutions and the next generation of technology to use cloud computing to solve challenges facing society and transforming those challenges into opportunities to enter the field of entrepreneurship through innovation.
