During the Second Meeting of CHSS Partners Dr. Al-Mudhahka Stresses the Importance of The Sectors’ Partnership with UoB for The Kingdom’s Economy Development

The President of the University of Bahrain (UoB), Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahka, praised the role of partners from the public and private sectors in making the educational process a success and preparing graduates to enter the labor market with greater confidence, stressing that this role is “one of the cornerstones that enable the University to achieve its mission to contribute to the growth and development of Bahraini economy”.
During a speech delivered by Dr. Al-Mudhahka at the inauguration of the second College of Health and Sports Sciences (CHSS) Partners Forum, on Monday (March 13, 2023), she expressed her pride in this partnership, and said in this context: “The University of Bahrain is proud of the strong relations it has with the labor market and employers, and holding this Forum is a documentation of the University’s position and its outputs in the Bahraini labor market, and our appreciation of your effective role for the University o f Bahrain students,” pointing to the important role played by the partners in achieving the seventeenth goal of the sustainable development goals of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, which represents “partnerships for the goals.”.
The Chief Executive Officer of the General Sports Authority of the General Sports Authority, Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, expressed his pleasure with being in this Forum and the importance of participating in this type of meetings, as they are partners in the outputs of these programs. In addition, he added that, “Such participations effectively contribute to keeping pace with the outputs of the labor market, and the Authority, as a partner of the University, invites the rest of the partners to express their opinion and support as consultants in such meetings that benefit the level of academic programs and the level of graduates, which will result in them being closer to the requirements of practical reality”.
For her part, the Dean of CHSS, Dr. Lina Mohammed Khenji, stated: “The College’s academic departments are working to intensify efforts and continue follow-up to implement quality standards for academic programs, and it is important to make sure to set clear goals and outputs for the academic programs, then to measure their compatibility with the needs of the labor market, all of which is done under the supervision of the Office of Quality Assurance and Academic Accreditation in the College.”.
Moreover, Dr. Khenji confirmed that the College received a rating of “trustworthy” for the bachelor’s in nursing program from the Education and Training Quality Authority in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and launching bachelor’s programs in pharmacy, diagnostic radiology, and nursing on the National Qualifications Framework last year.
She further explained that “Work is underway to launch the bachelor’s program in national laboratory sciences on the National Qualifications Framework and submit self-reports for the rest of the programs, as one of the most prominent academic developments that the College is currently working on is obtaining American accreditation for the bachelor’s in nursing program, which is in its advanced stages.”.
In turn, the Director of the Quality Assurance Office at CHSS, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah, indicated that the second Forum is held in order to consult with partners and take their opinion on matters related to current and future academic programs, the findings of labor market studies, graduates, and employers, in addition to benchmarking. “We are interested in cooperating with our partners in overcoming the difficulties that these students may face in terms of practical and clinical training in hospitals, government centers and schools. This includes developing plans and solutions in cooperation with you in the interest of the student, and in order to achieve permanent partnership with you,” he added.
This Forum aims to involve program advisory committees, student advisory committees, programs’ graduates, and professors in consultation, expressing opinions, and contributing to optimal decision-making that is in the interest of the student, the graduate, and the labor market.
During which, representatives of the public and private sectors with the academic staff of CHSS discussed the development of all programs of the College departments for bachelor’s qualifications, postgraduate studies, and continuous training, under the auspices of the University President, Dr. Al-Mudhahka. Furthermore, the participants discussed ways to enhance community partnership and cooperation in the field of scientific research.
Moreover, the partners discussed with members of the academic staff in the Department of Physical Education the current and developed academic programs in the light of the findings of the reference study and the findings of the studies of graduates and employers, in addition to proposing new academic programs at the bachelor’s and master’s levels based on the needs of the labor market.
Representatives of: the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, the National Health Regulatory Authority, government hospitals, King Hamad University Hospital, as well as primary health care centers participated in the Forum.
