In A Workshop in Cooperation with Alba Applied Education Students at UoB Learn the Concepts of Health, Environment and Occupational Safety

Students and professors of engineering programs at the College of Applied Education at the University of Bahrain (UoB) learned about new safety concepts, first aid, and how to deal with emergencies, during a training workshop organized by the Engineering Programs Department titled: “Health, Environment and Occupational Safety”, in cooperation with the Department of Safety, Health and Environment at Aluminum Bahrain (Alba).

The workshop aimed to transfer practical experiences in industrial environments to the faculty members, especially in relation to providing safety and health while working in the industrial facility. The workshop was attended by more than 45 students from the Associate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and the Associate Diploma in Electrical Engineering at the Engineering Programs Department. During which the requirements and developments of occupational safety and health were defined as part of the work at workshops and industrial laboratories at the university level, and prepared students to enter the labor market.

The workshop was presented by the Head of the Compliance Department in the Safety, Health and Environment Department at Alba, Hisham Al-Sayed Al-Alawi, who spoke about the basic rules of health, safety and environment concepts, and the importance of applying such concepts in the work environment, in addition to introducing the attendees to the responsibilities of business owners and employees alike.

Moreover, the Nursing Supervisor at Alba, Ahmed Al-Sayegh, gave a presentation explaining first aid, which included: cardiopulmonary resuscitation, how to use a defibrillator, and how to deal with emergencies according to medical and health practices and requirements that are recommended by international health organizations.

For her part, Dr. Wafaa Hassan Al-Madani, Director of the Engineering Programs Department at the College of Applied Education, praised the level of cooperation between Alba’s Human Resources and Training Department with UoB, regarding linking the academic side with the practical and applied side, and for providing a comprehensive training plan for occupational safety for a group of students and all affiliates of the Department of Engineering Programs at the College of Applied Education.
