Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Bahrain Participates in Symposiums of Abdullatif Al Fozan Award for Mosque Architecture

Dr. Shaikha Haifa bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Dean of the College of Engineering, University of Bahrain, participated in the architectural symposiums for the winning mosques of the 4th Cycle of Abdullatif Al Fozan Award for Mosque Architecture, held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

 

Dr. Haifa bint Ibrahim moderated the first architectural symposium, held on Monday, March 6, 2023, under the theme, “The Architectural Symposium of the Winning Mosque, Winning Architecture (A), The Islamic Religion-Cultural Center Mosque in Ljubljana, Slovenia.”

 

A group of international experts specialized in mosque architecture participated in the symposium, as well as members of the jury, on the sidelines of the ceremony for announcing winners of the 4th Cycle of Abdullatif Al-Fozan Award for Mosque Architecture (2020-2023).

 

The Dean of the College of Engineering attended the ceremony for announcing winners of the 4th Cycle of Abdullatif Al-Fozan Award for Mosque Architecture, held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh, and in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Abdullatif Al Fozan Award for Mosque Architecture, members of the Board of Trustees, and the founder of the Award, at the National Museum in Riyadh.

 

It is worth mentioning that Award is granted to five mosques. The longlist of this year’s nominations included more than 200 mosques from about 70 countries.

 

The award, established in 2011 and which deals with the architectural, and technical aspects of mosques, is granted to the engineering office that designed the winning project. Several awards are granted every three years. The winning mosques are elected by an international master jury composed of specialists in architecture, urban planning, philosophy, and sociology.
