With The Participation of More Than 120 Academics from Various Colleges and Specializations Concluding The Third Week of Workshops on Educational Development to Keep Pace with Labor Market Needs at UoB

The Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership (UTEL) at the University of Bahrain (UoB) concluded the third week of intensive workshops specialized in developing teaching, learning and assessment, in line with the needs of the labor market, with the participation of about 120 academics from various colleges and specializations at the University.

The Vice President for Academic Programs and Graduate Studies, Dr. Mohammed Reda Qader, praised the content of the training workshops that contributed to empowering and raising the level of professional and leadership abilities and skills of faculty members, extending his thanks and appreciation to the organizing team and the participants for their efforts.

For her part, Director of UTEL at UoB, Dr. Diana Abdulkarim Al-Jahromi, confirmed that the workshops focused on continuous professional development through innovative academic practices that aim to raise students’ readiness for work, in terms of refining soft skills, critical thinking, and the use of innovative methods in blended education, assessment, knowing the type of learner and their needs, appropriate learning methods for the post-pandemic generation, ice-breaking tools in the classroom, in addition to promoting a culture of academic integrity in Arabic research.

The faculty members participated in several workshops, including: “Supporting the Marketplace with Critical Thinking Graduates “, “Making Learning Fun by Breaking the Ice”, “Designing Courses Using the Blended Teaching and Learning Approach”, and “Ways to Enhance the Academic Integrity of Research Written in Arabic”. Moreover, workshops were offered to those registered in the Unit’s academic and professional development programs on “The Academic Practices File and Professional Development Plan”, while the “Evaluation” workshop focused on the latest evaluation methods that are in line with the requirements to obtain the fellowship of the British Academy of Higher Education.
