To Spread the Culture of Dialogue and Cultural Diversity The French Studies Center at UoB Celebrates the International Day of Francophonie

Assistant Professor at the French Studies Center at the University of Bahrain (UoB), Dr. Sarah Abdullah Bader, confirmed that the celebration of the International Day of Francophonie aims to raise awareness on French history, culture, and language among students, and to consolidate the values of dialogue and respect for cultural diversity.

The French Studies Center recently organized the celebration event for the International Day of Francophonie and the French Language, which falls on the twentieth of March of each year, for students of minors in the French language at the University, to enhance their linguistic and cognitive abilities, and to introduce them to French culture and traditions.

The event programs included an introductory session on the International Day of Francophonie, and on the origin and history of the French language. As students of the minor in the French language participated in several competitions, including competitions of recitation, oral reading, and spelling in French.

Moreover, two guests of honor participated in a panel discussion during the event, namely: the Director of the Quality Assurance Office at the College of Law, Dr. Wafaa Al-Wafi, and the Assistant Professor at the Bahrain Teachers College, Dr. Sameera Farhat, where they talked about their experience with the French language.  The  Head of the Department of English Language and Literature at the College of Arts, Dr. Ghada Ahmed Jasem, also attended the event.
