UoB And GSMR Sign A Memorandum of Understanding for Joint Cooperation Dr. Al Mudhahka Calls for The Convergence of Professional and Academic Expertise in The Engineering Field

The University of Bahrain (UoB) and the Gulf Society for Maintenance and Reliability (GSMR) signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the fields of maintenance, reliability and asset management, with the aim of developing and supporting frameworks of mutual understanding in the practical and educational fields for both parties.
The President of UoB, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahka, welcomed the strengthening of relations between the National University and the Society specialized in the fields of maintenance and reliability, expressing the University’s aspiration to activate and develop joint experiences, in order to achieve the highest degrees of engineering technical cooperation between the countries of the Sates of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
GSMR was established in the year 2010, with 26 employees in the fields of maintenance in the major industrial companies in the Arab Gulf countries, and the association was registered with the Ministry of Social Development in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Dr. Al-Mudhahka stressed the importance of convergence between academic expertise and practical and technical expertise, in order to improve engineering programs, and adapt them according to each level’s requirements and to the industrial needs in the region, stressing that cooperation between the two sides would contribute to finding highly qualified outputs.
For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of GSMR, Eng. Saad bin Ibrahim Al Tuhaifan Al-Shamrani, confirmed the Society’s keenness to find links with Gulf universities to exchange expertise, experiences, and opinions on engineering work, improve practices, and obtain professional certificates.
Al-Shamrani thanked the President of UoB for her hospitality and warm reception, expressing his aspiration to expand joint activities, especially in the fields of engineering training and education.
The memorandum was signed by Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahka, President of UoB, and Eng. Saad bin Ibrahim Al-Shamrani, Chairman of the Board of Directors, in the presence of officials from the University and GSMR.
The memorandum of understanding provides for cooperation between the two parties in a number of targeted areas (professional, research, training, technical, and developmental), and the exchange of expertise between the two parties in the field of engineering accreditation, conferences, training, lectures, workshops, and seminars, and encourages the two parties to exchange visits in order to support and activate the fields of the memorandum, in addition to implementing joint projects in the aforementioned fields.
Participating in the signing ceremony for the memorandum of understanding on the part of UoB, along with the president, were: Vice President for Information Technology Services, Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Osama Abdullah Al-Jowder, Vice President for Academic Programs and Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Mohammed Reda Qader, Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Sheikha Haifa bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, a faculty member in the College of Information Technology, Dr. Amal Mohammed Al-Rayes, and a faculty member in the College of Applied Education, Maryam Ali Abu Al-Fatah. While on the part of GSMR, it was attended by: Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Society, Eng. Saad bin Ibrahim Al-Tuhaifan Al-Shamrani, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Society, Mahmood Mirza Abdullah Ali, and General Manager of the Society, Jassim Yousef Ahmed.
