15 May 2023

The Dean of Admission and Registration at the University of Bahrain (UoB), Dr. Amal Zayed Al-Zayed, announced the opening of admission for new students for the next academic year (2023-2024), starting from Monday, May 15, to Monday, June 5, 2023. Dr. Al-Zayed called on secondary school graduates, who wish to enroll in UoB for the first semester of the next academic year, to refer to the University’s official website (www.uob.edu.bh) for application procedures and general admission requirements.

Dr. Al-Zayed further explained that applications are currently being submitted electronically through two mechanisms, as Bahraini and non-Bahraini students who are graduates of public schools within the Kingdom of Bahrain can apply through the website of the Information and e-Government Authority (bahrain.bh), while students who are graduates of private schools and Bahraini and Gulf students who graduated from private schools outside Bahrain, students who graduated last year (2021-2022), students of the Nasser Center for Rehabilitation and Vocational Training, in addition to students wishing to transfer from other universities to UoB, can apply by submitting their applications via the application link on the student information management website (sis.uob.edu.bh).

Moreover, the Dean of Admission and Registration reviewed the most important instructions for submitting applications for the academic year, noting that “Students expected to graduate will be allowed to submit an application for enrollment in undergraduate programs (the first period), and they should have a cumulative average of 65% or more, noting that they will be accepted into the University with a cumulative average of 70% or more, and for students with special needs, their cumulative average should not be less than 66.6%.”.

The Deanship of Admission and Registration notified applicants, through the Student Information System (SIS) website, on attaching several documents, namely: a color photograph, a copy of a valid passport, or proof of renewal, in case of expiry. For non-Bahraini students residing in Bahrain, they must attach a copy of a valid residence permit or proof of renewal, and a valid identity card or proof of renewal in case of expiry.

Graduates requested to attach a secondary school graduation certificate or its equivalent from the school, with transcripts, graduation affidavits, and transcripts certified by the Ministry of Education.

As for those expected to graduate in the second semester 2022/2023 who applied through SIS, are asked to attach transcripts for (5) semesters, and later the (SIS) system will be opened to update the required papers and documents after graduation, and the application period will be opened for students with a cumulative average of 65% and above, bearing in mind that the minimum average for admission to UoB starts from 70%.

Furthermore, the Deanship indicated that the fee for applying for admission is 10 dinars, which is non-refundable, stressing the importance of submitting a medical clearance exam certificate from one of the accredited centers or hospitals in the Kingdom of Bahrain for programs that require it.

Dr. Al-Zayed indicated that the applicant can amend his data on the SIS website (sis.uob.edu.bh) after completing the application process through the links in the application screen, as mentioned below:

  • Update Application Information and Preferences.
  • Modify Uploaded Documents.

Additionally, Dr. Al-Zayed stated that the approved hour fees for newly admitted students will be subsidized fees for Bahraini students at 8 Bahraini dinars per credit hour, while the fees for non-Bahraini students will be 80 Bahraini dinars per credit hour.

On the requirements for external transfer, Dr. Al-Zayed stated that the possibility of transferring students from another university to UoB is subject to several conditions, namely: that the other university be recognized by the concerned authorities in the Kingdom, and that the students submits a newly accredited academic record accompanied by the required documents to the Deanship, as well as a certificate of good conduct from the university from which they transferred, and a recommendation from two of their professors  at that university, that their secondary school certificate is eligible for admission to the program they wishes to transfer to, that their studies are regular at the university they transferred from ( full system), that they have successfully passed (30) credit hours or their equivalent in the university from which they are transferring, and their cumulative GPA is not less than 2.33 out of (4.00) ( C+ or its equivalent in other academic evaluation systems). This condition does not apply for transfer requests to second period programs.
