Welcoming the Expansion of Scientific Cooperation Within the Agency’s Coming Research Session UoB And IAEA Review the Developments of the “High Precision Materials” Laboratory

The University of Bahrain (UoB) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reviewed the project’s development to establish a laboratory for the characterization of high-precision materials, which is expected to be hosted by the laboratories of the College of Engineering at the University.

This came during a recent meeting between the Dean of the College of Engineering at the University, Dr. Shaikha Haifa bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the Head of the Technical Cooperation Department at IAEA, Claudette Maalouf, and the Advisor to the CEO of International Cooperation at the Jordanian Atomic Energy Commission, Mohammed Amri.

The meeting reviewed the project’s developments, which provides advanced and high-accuracy analytical services to researchers in many relevant authorities in the government and private sectors, as representatives of IAEA expressed their satisfaction with the project’s course and its developments.

The Dean of the College of Engineering expressed her happiness that the perfectly designed national project is supported and licensed by IAEA, considering its compatibility with the national program’s framework, expressing her hope to soon obtain financial support for the project.

The meeting was attended by the Dean of the College of Science at the University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Mustafa Al-Hilo, the Dean of the College of Information Technology, Dr. Hessa Jassem Al-Junaid, and the Assistant Professor of Materials Engineering at the College of Engineering at the University, the project’s principal researcher, Dr. Abdullah Faisal Al-Shatar.

Moreover, Maalouf expressed her admiration regarding the levels of achievement presented by the project designer, Dr. Al-Shatar, noting that the Agency encourages the University to put forward proposals for research and scientific cooperation, and to expand research cooperation in its next research session.

Dr. Haifa bint Ibrahim invited the Agency to expand the areas of cooperation in the Agency’s new research session, stressing that the University is open to cooperation and coordination with the Agency in various lines of research.

It is expected that the high precision materials characterization and processing laboratory will contribute to serving the needs of the Kingdom in several sectors, such as: the health care sector, the industrial sector, and the education sector, which includes universities and scientific research institutions, and that it will be used in a wide range of mechanical studies, such as fracture mechanics, corrosion, radiation damage, and nanotechnology.
