University of Bahrain Students Contribute to Promoting Cultural Exchange between Bahrain and China

The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, lauded the role of the Confucius Institute in teaching the Chinese language at the University, promoting cultural exchange, and introducing characteristics of the Chinese culture.

 

Dr. Al-Ansari, in the celebration of the 22nd “Chinese Bridge” competition for Chinese language and culture for foreign university students at the local level, noted the efforts of the Confucius Institute’s staff at the University, and their great contributions to the development and high quality of the Chinese language courses, which would help to graduate distinguished students in the University.

 

The University President stressed the importance of understanding Chinese culture and history, as well as developing language skills, which would lead to more achievements at the local and global levels and enhance cultural ties between the two countries.

 

The 22nd “Chinese Bridge” competition for Chinese language and culture for foreign university students, at the global level, organized by the Confucius Institute at the university, concluded its work on Sunday, May 28, 2023.

 

The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Ni Ruchi, lauded the efforts of the Confucius Institute at University of Bahrain. He noted that it serves as a bridge of communication and cultural rapprochement between Bahrain and China, given the rich scientific and cultural content it provides in various fields, including history, economy, culture and arts.

 

He pointed to the distinguished level of the students at the Confucius Institute at the University of Bahrain in learning the Chinese language and culture, and their participation in the “Chinese Bridge” competition together with students from various universities in the world.

 

For his part, the Bahraini Director of the Confucius Institute, Vice President for Academic Programs and Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Mohammad Reda Qader, praised the role of the institute’s staff and their efforts in enhancing understanding and collaboration between the two friendly peoples, as part of the “Belt and Road” initiative and Bahrain’s economic vision 2030.

 

 

 

 

 

The competition included three categories, namely knowledge of Chinese culture, Chinese language speech, and the talent show. Nasima Bakht, a student at the College of Business Administration, won first place in the competition, and will represent the Kingdom of Bahrain in the finals of the 22nd “Chinese Bridge” competition in China.

 

Abrar Muhammad Jaafar, a student in the College of Business Administration, and Hawra Abdulnabi Al-Asfour a student from the College of Science won the second place. Surat Khalil, a student in the College of Law, and students Hussein Abdel-Moamen Ahmed, Dana Yasser, and Maryam Ghazi Al-Alawi from the College of Business Administration won third place.

 

The jury consisted of Gong Dani, a member of the Chinese Embassy, Wan Miao, a member of Huawei Bahrain, and Sun Shiqun, a member of the China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), Bahrain.

 

The competition was attended by members of the Board of Directors of the Confucius Institute, several faculty members and students from various colleges, as well as a delegation from the Chinese Embassy and a delegation from Hikvision Company.
