Students of the legal clinic and human rights at the College of Law at the University of Bahrain (UoB) learned about the mechanisms of communications and complaints, and followed up on their legal procedures, as part of a training program at the Southern Governorate Police Station.
The Legal Clinic Center – established in cooperation with the American Association of Jurists in 2013 – helps to provide practical training for students at the College of Law at the University, enabling them to acquire legal and human rights skills, by helping the community in various ways.
The training program in the Southern Governorate Police Station included an introduction to the security and legal procedures used in the station to combat crime, handle cases, and the procedures of writing reports, in addition to introducing the detainees’ rights and duties.
Fourth-year student in the College of Law and one of the trainees in the program, Hassan Ali Ibrahim, confirmed that the practical training experience he had in the Southern Governorate Police Station was useful and fruitful.
He stated, “The program was rich in information that the law students will need after their graduation,” pointing out that he was trained on the mechanism of receiving communications, and the legal procedures followed in this regard, including referring the case to the Public Prosecution, and following up on the case. Also, he praised the cooperation of the Station’s officials and employees with the student trainees, and their answers to all their inquiries.
A specialized training team at the Southern Governorate Police Station prepared the training program, based on the vision of the Ministry of Interior to embody the concept of comprehensive security and human rights, taking into account the requirements of practical training at the College of Law at UoB.
