Dr. Al-Ansari: Graduation Projects May Constitute a Major Step Towards the Labor Market Engineering Students from UoB Present 71 Graduation Projects for the Second Semester Introducing Modern Ideas in The Oil Industry, Waste Treatment, Energy Production and Management with Smart Solutions

The President of the University of Bahrain (UoB), Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, confirmed that student graduation projects can constitute a major step towards the labor market, if students decide to proceed with their development and put them on the market.
This came during his speech at the celebration of the Graduation Projects Exhibition for students of the College of Engineering for the academic year 2022/2023, which was organized by the College of Engineering today, Tuesday (13 June 2023), with the participation of members of the academic and administrative bodies, as well as students and their parents.
Dr. Al-Ansari stated: “The University encourages its students to be owners of institutions and businesses, and to contribute to creating job opportunities, by turning their graduation projects into commercial projects.”
The College’s students presented 71 distinguished graduation projects in the College, which were prepared by 199 students in the second semester, within six academic programs: mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, instrumentation and industrial process control, civil engineering, electrical engineering, and electronic engineering.
“Graduation projects in the College of Engineering reflect the students’ thinking, the extent of their achievement and understanding of all the courses they studied, and the experiences and skills they acquired during university studies, especially the experiences they gained through exposure to the industrial sector.” Dr. Al-Ansari further added.
Moreover, Dr. Al-Ansari delivered shields, certificates of appreciation, and awards from the sponsor to ten graduation projects at the opening ceremony of the Exhibition, and praised the diversity of their topics that examined various engineering issues, such as: bridge and highway designs and their requirements, robots, designing smart systems, leak detection, power generation, improving energy efficiency, waste treatment of all kinds, as well as new solutions for classic medical devices.
The University President thanked Abdulrahim Al-Kooheji Charity Foundation for sponsoring the graduation projects exhibition and the awards for the best graduation project for the second year in a row. He also thanked Ebrahim Khalil Kanoo Company, which presented the award for the Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering program, expressing his appreciation for the efforts of the Dean of the College of Engineering, and the academic and administrative bodies in the College, who work as one team, to achieve UOB’s goals and mission.
For her part, the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Shaikha Haifa bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, pointed out that the importance of the graduation project lies in being the first actual experience that simulates the practical life of a student, noting the contribution of engineering projects to building a knowledge-based economy, given its interest in modern technologies and innovative solutions.
Furthermore, Dr. Haifa bint Ibrahim described the projects as having a “modern and innovative perspective”, hoping that they will find their way to implementation on the ground, stating, “The organization of the graduation projects exhibition introduces the market to the contributions of students at the bachelor’s level, paves the way for more cooperation with private sector institutions, and achieves further compatibility with the labor market requirements.”.
While the student, Haneen Al-Kooheji, delivered the graduates’ speech, saying: “The graduation project is one of those tasks that put us under the pressure to achieve innovation,” noting that “the graduation project is not the outcome of one or two semesters, but rather the result of the knowledge that we have gained since the first day we joined the University”.
“We may all agree that at some point in the project’s journey, it seemed impossible to complete all requirements, but with cooperation and determination, we were able to accomplish it, with the help of God, and the support of the academic and administrative bodies in the college.” Al-Kooheji added.
All student projects were evaluated by arbitration committees including professors from UoB, as well as 17 external arbitrators who practiced engineering professions in the private sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
