The College of Information Technology Presents 53 Distinguished Graduation Projects

The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, praised the level of graduation projects of students at the College of Information Technology. He stressed that these projects reflect the students’ enthusiasm and knowledge of information technology sciences, and reflect their knowledge on the user’s needs, as they serve the public and private sectors in the real life and practical aspects.

 

During the inauguration of graduation project exhibition of the second semester 2022/2023 on Wednesday June 14, 2023, Dr. Al-Ansari stresses that the College of Information Technology plays a pioneering role in research and innovation, as well as choosing appropriate partnerships that develop students’ creative talents and support their innovative projects.

 

The University President addressed the students, “I am proud of your efforts. You should believe in the value of your work today, as this is an opportunity to transform your ideas into real projects that generate money and create job opportunities in the labor market.”

 

In his speech in the presence of members of the academic and administrative bodies, students and parents, the President of the University thanked the professors who supervised the students’ research and projects, the organizing and arbitration committees.

 

For her part, the Dean of the College of Information Technology, Dr. Hessa Jassim Al-Junaid, pointed out that this project exhibition highlighted the latest advanced technologies in the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and the Internet of Things, and their uses in a very wide range of applications for important purposes.

 

Dr. Al-Junaid explained, “The Cloud Innovation Center at the University supervised three researches in the field of technical systems in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS)”. She expressed her satisfaction with the level of the students at the College.

 

For his part, Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and the member of the Graduation Projects Committee, Dr. Abdullah Ahmed Alasaadi, lauded the great efforts exerted by 152 students in designing and implementing 53 projects in the field of computer engineering, computer science, and information systems. He pointed out that students are trained to use the latest technologies and skills in cloud computing and programming, and that their research provide innovative technical solutions to the daily challenges facing individuals and institutions in the public sector and the private sector.

 

 

 

Dr. Alasaadi explained that the projects focused on three fields, namely technical systems, research, and entrepreneurship.

 

For his part, Nidal Al-Basha, Head of the Digital Innovation Department at the Cloud Innovation Center of AWS Bahrain, expressed his admiration of students’ completion of multidisciplinary projects that provide solutions to real problems. Al-Basha stressed the importance of contextualizing and developing these ideas.

 

The project “Sign Language Recognition Using Real-time Computer Vision” won first place in the category of projects of the Computer Engineering Department, as announced by the jury.

 

A project related to an arbitration system using artificial intelligence won first place in the category of projects of the Department of Computer Science. A project related to a system for finding lost property won first place in the category of projects of the Information Systems Department.

 

It is worthy to mention that graduation project exhibition of students at the College of Information Technology, which is held at the end of each semester, captures the interest of many professional sectors interested in technical fields, employers, and several companies that seek to support innovative projects of students.
