The impact factor of the Arab Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences – issued by the College of Science at the University of Bahrain (UoB)- continued its upward trajectory, achieving (6.2) points in the global scientific publishing database (Scopus).

As the impact factor measures the number of research citations included in the scientific journal on the Scopus database.

The journal’s evaluation shows that its impact factor increased from (1.9) in 2018 to (3.8) in 2019, reaching a level of (6.2) in 2022, according to a report issued by “Scopus” database last May, and this reflects the upward growth in the citation rates for the research of the scientific journal, which is published by the College since 2005.

The President of the University, Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, congratulated the editors of the Arab Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences on this remarkable success, which made the journal a well-known and reliable platform for disseminating scientific knowledge, to become among the most prestigious international scientific journals now.

Dr. Al-Ansari expressed his pride in the journal’s ascending pace, as it was able to attract many international scholars, researchers and arbitrators during the previous period, who contributed to enriching the scientific journal with solid research.

For his part, the Dean of the College of Science and Editor-in-Chief of the journal, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Mustafa El-Hilo, said that the reason for the journal’s continued progress is the connection between the journal and the research published in it with international search engines, and the quality and speed of research arbitration by specialists from various countries of the world, who are chosen according to keywords, in addition to the presence of an editorial board consisting of distinguished researchers from different geographic regions around the world. He added, “The journal is also keen to keep abreast of changes in the way research is published, as it now adopts the policy of the annual open issue. So, after completing the research – which has been approved for publication – it should appear on global search engines within a week.”

It is worth noting that the Arab Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences has been published by UoB since 2005, specifically in the College of Science, and it is one of the activities of the Association of Colleges of Science in the Association of Arab Universities. To date, 29 issues of the journal have been issued, including 20 issues with an international publisher, and 425 indexed research papers from the journal have been published on the Scopus publishing platform.
