24 Students Participate with Entrepreneurial Ideas and their Implementation Plans

Students of the Entrepreneurial Strategy course of the Entrepreneurship major, University of Bahrain undertook the “New Business Ideas Challenge”. The challenge witnessed the participation of 24 male and female students who developed new business ideas and presented them before a jury, which included an expert from the Labor Fund (Tamkeen).
Dr. Mesfer Mubarak AL-Muhanadi, Head of the Department of Management and Marketing and Supervisor of the Entrepreneurial Strategy Course, stressed that the innovative skills and high capabilities of students to develop new and comprehensive entrepreneurial ideas markets target the various industries and markets, keep pace with the rapid technological developments, and provide positive solutions for the economy and community.
The jury consisted of Director of the Office of Quality Assurance and Accreditation at the College of Business Administration, Dr. Hessa Mubarak Al-Fadil, Assistant Professor at the Department of Management and Marketing, Dr. Mayasa Sultan Al-Sowaidi, and Head of Service Centers in the Labor Fund (Tamkeen), Raed Al-Haddad.
The idea “Dive with Save”, a developed watch to measure the oxygen percentage in cylinders of divers underwater, with notifications and alerts, won first place.
The idea “Shahin”, a touring truck with solar panels that transfers energy to electric cars, won second place.
The idea “Intelluggage”, designed for travel lovers, won third place. It is a developed bag that weighs itself after packing, and its colors change according to the degree of overweight. The green color indicates safe weight, yellow indicates extra weight, and red indicates exceeding the permissible weight.
Other ideas include “Fit-Me”, which is a service for virtual shopping sites that uses augmented reality to find your fit before buying clothes, and the idea of “Fit-Print”, which is an innovative product for printing clothes from home, using a special device to print clothes with 3D technology.
The idea “Hydro Company” is a metal bottle, which contains a sensor connected to a special application on smart devices to alert the customer to drink water. The idea of “SENVES”, is a sensory label placed on the inner shelves of the refrigerator, that allows customers to keep track of food expiry dates.
On electronic platforms, the idea“GCC carz”, is a platform for displaying secondhand cars and spare parts all over the Arabian Gulf region. While the idea “Brush & Color”, is a virtual platform for displaying drawings, and electronic courses to learn drawing and art in a professional manner.
An idea “Car Simulator”, relies on the use of a simulation system in driving training, similar to flight training, was also presented. The idea “SMART BREW”, is a specialized coffee vending machine connected to a special application on smart devices, which enables users to prepare coffee remotely, and pay without using cash or paper currencies.
Dr. AL-Muhanadi expressed his great happiness with the high level of ideas presented, as the students worked on developing new pioneering ideas with implementation plans and presented them before the jury. He stressed that he is looking forward to developing these ideas in the near future, through other courses that students will study in entrepreneurship major.
