In General Nursing, Medical Laboratory Sciences and Pharmacy UoB Opens the Application Process to Complementary Health Programs

The Deanship of Admission and Registration at the University of Bahrain (UoB) announced that the electronic submission of enrollment application in Complementary programs in the College of Health and Sports Sciences (CHSS) is open for students who have completed associate diploma programs in health specializations until August 27, 2023, and invited those wishing to register to visit the student information system usis.uob.edu.bh

In this context, the Dean of CHSS, Dr. Lina Mohammed Khenji, stated that applications submission for enrollment in complementary programs is offered for those who have an Associate Diploma in the following specializations: general nursing, medical laboratory sciences, and pharmacy. Pointing out that the applications to study in these programs will be considered according to the available vacancies, and the admission requirements of each program and college.

Moreover, Dr. Khenji explained that the complementary bachelor’s program aims to have graduate nurses with the ability to assume leadership roles in the nursing fields, teaching, and applying critical thinking and evidence-based practice. It also aims to prepare nurses who contribute to the development of the nursing profession to meet the needs of health care services in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Dr. Khenji stated that the College’s requirements to admit students into this program include: that the student has an associate’s diploma with a cumulative average of (2.5/4) or its equivalent, and to submit proof of passing the IELTS exam with a score of 5 for the nursing specialization, and a score of 5.5 for allied sciences majors, in addition to having a valid license to practice the profession, and he must pass the personal interview to join the program, in addition to having work experience of not less than one year.

The College offers all complementary bachelor’s programs in nursing, pharmacy, and medical laboratories to employees working in the health sector in the same specialization, as a contribution to raising the level of health cadres with modern health education methodologies and advanced practice.

It is worth noting that the Bachelor’s in Complementary Nursing program was approved by the Quality Assurance Authority for Education and Training in the Kingdom of Bahrain  2012. As it was established in October 1984, to raise the educational level of the profession, from Associate Diploma to Bachelor’s degree, in line with changes in healthcare services in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and in accordance with international standards for nursing education.
