A team of students from the History Department at the College of Arts at the University of Bahrain (UoB) volunteered to list, catalogue and index more than 6 thousand books in the library of Bahrain National Museum, in addition to inventorying the museum’s exhibition halls’ holdings.
The student team included: Ali Hassan Abdullah, Abbas Hussain Abbas, Ali Hussain Turki, Abrar Ibrahim Ghadeer, and Zainab Yousef Ahmed, who volunteered during their summer vacation to work at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, out of their desire to develop their abilities and skills and refine their theoretical historical knowledge through practical application.
The students pointed out that history is not only limited to academic curricula, and the student of history needs to view and explore archaeological and heritage sites, pointing out that they are many and multifaceted in the Kingdom of Bahrain, due to its ancient history extending to distant historical periods.
Student Ali Hassan Abdullah said, “Student volunteering has an impact on the student in scientific and practical terms, and increases the volunteer’s self-confidence,” offering his thanks to the administration of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities and its officials for their cooperation and continuous guidance during the volunteer period, noting that this helped in completing the tasks assigned to them within a relatively record period of time.
