A Student at the University of Bahrain Wins Silver Medal in West Asian Fencing Championship

Amid strong competition, a student at the University of Bahrain has won the silver medal in West Asian Fencing Championship, recently held in Amman, Jordan.

 

The member of Bahrain fencing national team and student at the Department of Physical Education, University of Bahrain, Ali Hani Al-Amiri, expressed his happiness with the team’s accomplishment. Al-Amiri noted the support he received during the championship and its preparation period.

 

The championship was held in Amman on 2-6 September 2023. Al-Amiri competed in the group rounds played by the Bahraini team. The team has won the silver medal following the Jordanian team that has won the gold medal.

 

The Bahrain fencing national team consisted of three players, namely Abdulkarim Issa Abdullah, Ali Al-Amiri and Abdullah Rashid Al-Balushi. The team qualified for the quarterfinals after defeating the Omani team. In the final match, the team lost against Jordan.

 

146 male and female players participated in the championship, representing Bahrain, KSA, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, and Jordan.

 

The University of Bahrain encourages its students to participate in local, regional, and international competitions and championships. The vision of UoB aims to refine students’ personalities and improve their creative abilities to enable them to develop their skills using tools and capabilities provided by the University.
