Dr. Al Ansari: Enhancement of Professional Development Opportunities for Accounting Students and Graduates UoB Signs a Memorandum of Understanding with ACCA

The University of Bahrain (UoB) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), on Monday (September 18, 2023), aiming to provide opportunities and scholarships for professionals of the University’s students and graduates.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by the university’s president, Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, on behalf of UoB, while the director of the Middle East Office for Educational Relations, Taher Kapasi, signed on behalf of the Association.

In turn, Dr. Al-Ansari stressed the importance of the memorandum in forming effective cooperation between the University and the internationally recognized Association in line with the University’s endeavor to enhance future professional prospects for the advancement of the accounting profession in the Kingdom of Bahrain, by granting students opportunities to develop their skills at the local, regional, and global levels.

For his part, Kapasi said the memorandum of understanding aims to provide scholarships for the University’s graduates from accounting and other business specializations, and opportunities to obtain membership as a certified public accountant in England, to study in ACCA, and to benefit from the ACCA Accelerate program in obtaining a university degree and professional ACCA qualifications at the same time.

The memorandum of understanding included several points, the most prominent of which were: encouraging cooperation within the framework of exchanging experiences and resources between the two parties, facilitating access for faculty members, and holding activities, seminars, and lectures supporting learning and research, in addition to holding joint seminars and conferences, cooperating in research projects and publications, and facilitating the process for graduates of the College of Business Administration to study for the ACCA certificate.

In the same context, a discount agreement was signed and presented by ACCA to the strategic partners, which provides the University’s students with a discount on registration and subscription fees, contributing to facilitating their journey in passing the requirements for obtaining the professional certificate and obtaining membership in the Association. The discount agreement was signed by Dr. Abdullah Khaled Al-Jalahma, Dean of the College of Business Administration, and Taher Kapasi, Director of the Middle East Office for Educational Relations, on behalf of ACCA.

Dr. Al-Jalahma stated that the signing of the memorandum came within the College’s plan to consolidate its relations with international professional bodies, and with the aim of opening the career field for its graduates at the international level. The certificate issued by ACCA is one of the most prestigious and globally recognized qualifications, as the Association operates in 181 countries, and more than five hundred thousand students have enrolled so far.

From the University, the memorandum signing ceremony was attended by the Director of the Quality Assurance Office at the College of Business Administration, Dr. Hessa Mubarak Al-Fadhel, the coordinator of the Master’s in Accounting program, Dr. Gagan Kukreja, the coordinator of the Bachelor’s in Accounting program, Dr. Noora Abdulrahman, and the head of the Research and Studies Department in the University President’s Office, Fadl Ghanem Al-Buainain, while from the Association, the signing ceremony was attended by the Business Relations Executive in the Middle East, Ahmed Bilal Manzoor.
