Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain (UoB), confirmed that the University has maintained an upward trend of scientific research indexed annually, according to the international network for indexed scientific research (SCOPUS), whose data indicated that the number of research papers by UoB’s professors that were on its list during the past year 2022 amounted to 686 scientific research papers. While the number of research in 2018 did not exceed 299 research, achieving an increase in the number of research at a rate of more than double over five years.
Dr. Al-Ansari expects a continuous increase in UoB’s research during the current year 2023, given its continued encouragement of scientific research, especially related to national research priorities and development issues, as it is constantly working to develop its laboratories and research tools, and make them available to scholars and researchers in various colleges, noting that expanding postgraduate programs contributes to revitalizing scientific research as well.
In a similar context, the President of UoB congratulated Dr. Majeed Safar Jassim, a faculty member in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the College of Engineering, on the number of scientific journal citations to his research on Google Scholar, which exceeded 1,000 citations.
The President of the University praised the research activity of the Associate Professor of Sustainable Processes Technology, noting that the research citations on the network of academic literature indicate the significance of such research for scholars and specialists, and contribute to raising the University’s global ranking, wishing him further success in solid scientific publishing, which contributes to finding innovative solutions to industrial problems.
Dr. Al-Ansari confirmed that UoB encourages researchers, whether of faculty members or postgraduate and undergraduate students, to publish their research in peer-reviewed scientific journals, because of the high credibility such publication entails, especially if it is in world-class journals.
The International Journal of Waste Management and Research – a journal indexed in the SCOPUS database within the first level (Q1) – ranked one of Dr. Jassim’s research papers ninth on the list of most cited publications during the past three years.
450 research published during the current year
The indexed research of faculty members at the University on SCOPUS has reached about 450 research so far during the current year.
The University is keen to stimulate scientific research by holding scientific conferences and specialized workshops in the fields of academic writing, designing university theses, converting the thesis into a scientific paper, formulating a research plan, using statistical programs in scientific research, and so on.
The Deanship of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research has recently organized several conferences and scientific events, the most important of which are: the third edition of the Sustainable Islamic Business and Finance Conference, the fifth edition of the Annual Sustainability and Resilience Conference, and the fourth edition of the Virtual Global Conference “Data Analysis for Economy and Industry.”
