Dr. Sayed Salah Alawi Salman a Keynote Speaker in the Ninth International Conference of Oman Mathematics Committee at Sultan Qaboos University

Faculty member at the Bahrain Teachers College, University of Bahrain, Dr. Sayed Salah Alawi Salman, stressed the importance of identifying students gifted in mathematics in public schools, and providing them with educational opportunities and extra-curricular activities to develop their abilities, through identifying characteristics that distinguish this category of students.

 

Dr. Salman has recently participated as a keynote speaker in the ninth international conference of Oman Mathematics Committee at Sultan Qaboos University, held under the theme “Trends in Innovative Curricula of Mathematics: Highlights on Modern Teaching and Learning Strategies”. During the conference, Dr. Salman presented a scientific paper that reviewed the latest creative trends in teaching mathematical sciences to gifted students.

 

During his paper discussion, Dr. Salman stressed the need to include creative thinking in mathematics classes, through adopting some creative applied strategies, which help the teacher develop educational materials and extra-curricular activities, which would contribute to the development of mathematical thinking among students in general, and students gifted in Mathematics in particular.

 

It is worthy of note that Dr. Sayed Salah Alawi Salman holds a PhD in developing creativity in gifted students and he has conducted several studies and research papers in this field. He also has a group of publications on gifted students and participated with scientific papers in several international and Arab conferences that focused on giftedness and creativity.
