The Dean of the College of Law at the University of Bahrain, Dr. Salah Mohammed Ahmed, declared that the College is preparing to offer a Bachelor of Laws in English at the beginning of the next academic year, as part of the comprehensive plan to offer new programs and develop the existing ones.

Dr. Ahmed noted that the College, which received “full confidence” judgement from the Education and Training Quality Authority, is seeking during the coming period to place its programs on the National Qualifications Framework. He stated, “The College is keen to keep pace with the labor market requirements, as it has paid great attention to the educational outcomes, in a way that would enable the graduates of the college to easily engage and integrate into the labor market.” He pointed out that the College of Law develops its study programs and curricula every five years to match the various developments, and offers new programs, at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels to meet the current and future needs of the labor market.

Dr. Ahmed indicated that all the College’s programs have received “full confidence” judgement from the Education and Training Quality Authority, within the framework of the periodic five-year review of the College’s programs in 2021, given that all the College’s programs meet the requirements for academic accreditation.

Dr. Ahmed pointed out, “the College pays great attention to scientific research and publication, due to their importance and prominent role in serving the community.” He noted that the College has several organized scientific and research conferences and seminars to discuss scientific papers and research, the most prominent of which were the Conference of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Economic Vision and the Arbitration Day Symposium.

The Dean of the College noted the development of the Bachelor of Laws program, updating its curricula and contents, and providing it with updated courses, in a way that would address various legal aspects to keep pace with the outcomes of the technological revolution, the artificial intelligence revolution, and other developments. He indicated that there is a plan underway to develop the Associate Diploma Program, which the College has recently offered.

Dr. Ahmed explained that this year the College has offered a master’s program in law and sports management, at the postgraduate level. He stated, “It is a promising program that meets the need of the sports activities and investment in various sport fields. It provides the labor market with legal cadres specialized in professional sports contracts and the settlement of sports disputes through arbitration or sports courts.”

Dr. Ahmed stated that the offering of the Master’s Program in Sports Law and Management reflects the keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain to provide a legislative environment conducive to sports investment. He added that this is embodied in the promulgation of Law No. (8) of 2021 regarding professionalism in sports, amid increasing global interest in investment in sports fields.

The Dean of the College of Law stressed that the College is focusing during the new academic year on updating its existing academic programs, offering new programs, and consolidating the bonds of collaboration and partnership with distinguished scientific institutions, both regional and international, in a way that would contribute to achieving its goals and improving its outputs.
