The introductory workshop on training-of-trainers program was held with the participation of 29 faculty members from all university colleges in “GEPMI”, to qualify them for training and teaching on gender-sensitive economic policies.

The training course lasted for three weeks. It is one of the main components of the initiative to include gender considerations in economic policymaking.

This course targets policy makers, economists, gender equality specialists, researchers, development planners, and civil servants at the intermediate and senior levels.

One of the most important objectives of the training course for managing gender-sensitive economic policies in Arab countries is promoting a deeper understanding of the relationship between gender and economy, and their impact on the development process in Arab countries.

The course consists of 13 training modules. Each module includes a theoretical foundation for the role of men and women in specific aspects of the economy, as well as concrete and interactive exercises for application of such knowledge in “real-world” environments. Topics of the gender-related units include gender-responsive policy analysis, unpaid work, poverty, environment, employment, labor markets, gender macroeconomic strategies in Arab countries, globalization, trade, and the economics of social protection.
