The University of Bahrain celebrated the Kingdom of Bahrain’s National Day, in commemoration of the establishment of the modern Bahraini state during the era of the founder Ahmed Al-Fateh as an Arab Muslim state in 1783, and the anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, may God protect, Accession to the Throne.
The University organized a joyful celebration at its premises in Sakhir, with the participation of Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain, and in the presence of vice presidents, deans of colleges, academic and administrative staff, and a large group of students.
Dr. Al Ansari inaugurated the art gallery, which included several paintings by students of the Fine Arts Club at the Deanship of Student Affairs. The paintings embodied love for the homeland in various artistic forms. Dr. Al Ansari also witnessed a national folk dance, together with chants and poems from the Bahraini heritage. The ceremony was held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at the University premises in Sakhir, with the playing of the national anthem, followed by a performance by the military band.
Students took part in various parts of the ceremony. They presented their works in a competition to design a group of memorials for landmarks of some regions in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which reflect the cultural, architectural, and social specificity of these regions.
The celebration also included a heritage gallery representing some of the industries and crafts the Kingdom of Bahrain is famous for, including prayer beads, bishout (outer cloak), and herbal water. The ceremony also included other artistic and cultural activities, including cultural and poetry competitions as well as musical performances.
The participation of the military music bands, which consisted of 3 diverse bands, the performances of the folk bands, and the productive families, added more pleasure and joy to the ceremony and received remarkable student participation.
The University of Bahrain aims, through organizing the National Day celebrations every year, to enhance the spirit of belonging and patriotism for college affiliates, including students and professors, and to promote the culture of voluntary teamwork, in a stimulating atmosphere beyond the scope of the academic curricula.
