A team that includes a researcher from the University of Bahrain has uncovered the essential processes responsible for repeatedly clearing primary hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections, which opens the door to targeted vaccine development.

Dr. Muhammad Nauman Zahid Assistant Professor at the department of Biology at the college of Science at the University of Bahrain, collaborated with a team of researchers from Johns Hopkins University and Pennsylvania University in the US to study the underlying processes responsible for repeated clearing of primary hepatitis C infections.

The results of the study provided valuable insights into the complex dynamics between HCV and the immune system. Understanding how individuals repeatedly clear HCV infections opens the door to targeted vaccine development.

The study was accepted for publication in the prestigious scientific journal Immunity (with Impact Factor: 32.4).
