A Seminar at the University of Bahrain’s “Law” Discussed Disputes and Sports Professionalism Jurists and Athletes Call for Legislation to Protect Athletes and Their Institutions

A scientific seminar at the College of Law at the University of Bahrain called for the enactment of legal legislation that protects athletes and sports institutions, and preserves their rights, stressing the importance of issuing a comprehensive law for sports professionalism in the Kingdom.

The seminar was organized by the Department of Private Law at the Faculty of Law at the University, under the title: “Law and the Sports Industry” with the participation of several speakers.

The first session was titled “Sports between Law and Economics”, moderated by Dr. Hanan Ahmed Al-Mawla, Assistant Professor of Civil Law at the Faculty of Law at the University, and attended by Dr. Nabil Taha, Director of the Bahrain Olympic Academy, Fatima Abdulhai Al-Kooheji, Head of the Department of Legal Affairs and Sports Disputes at the General Sports Authority, and Dr. Abdul-Jabbar Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Law at the Faculty of Law at the University of Bahrain, who spoke on the impact of the sports sector on economic output.

The second session of the seminar was titled “International Sports Dispute Resolution” and was moderated by Dr. Amal Kamel Abdullah, Associate Professor of Commercial Law at the Faculty of Law at the University.

Nader Jalal Al Awadhi, Advisor at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, Counselor Talal Juma Al Kaabi, member of the Legislation and Legal Opinion Authority, and Fatima Al Zayed Al Jalahma, Case Manager at the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution, participated in the event.
