UoB Event Calls for Intensifying Cooperation to Address Antimicrobial Resistance

An event at the University of Bahrain called for concerted community efforts and collective action to address antimicrobial resistance, noting the roles that universities and their students can play in this field.

The awareness event, recently organized by the College of Science at the University, hosted Dr. Tasnim Atatreh, WHO Representative in the Kingdom of Bahrain, to celebrate World Antimicrobial Awareness Week, which is held annually from November 18 to 24.

In an exhibition accompanying the event, students of the Department of Biology gave introductory presentations on the concept of antimicrobial resistance, its causes, methods of prevention and environmentally friendly solutions for antibiotic resistance. The event also honored students who won in a competition to design the best educational awareness poster related to antimicrobial resistance.
