During the Projects Exhibition of “Information Technology” Students at UoB 150 Students Complete 50 Projects in Computer Science, Engineering, and Information Systems

Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain (UoB), stressed the importance of supporting graduation projects, in a way that contributes to developing students’ abilities to be creative and innovative, by offering new projects that provide services and solutions to problems in the public and private sectors in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
This came during the opening of the graduation projects exhibition for students of the College of Information Technology for the first semester of the current academic year 2023/2024. In his opening speech, Al-Ansari expressed his pride in the level of progress seen in the ideas and performance of students in the graduation projects, at the same time giving thanks and appreciation to the students for their efforts in accomplishing such projects. In addition, he thanked the academic body for the guidance and supervision it provides, which contributes to the quality of the completed projects.
For her part, Dr. Hessa Jassim Al-Junaid, Dean of the College of Information Technology, stated: “Every project presented is the result of long hours the student spent in research, development and problem-solving. Through these projects, our students have demonstrated their technical expertise, creativity, and ability to apply their knowledge to the real-world challenges.”.
Sshe continued: “Every semester, our students excel in finding pioneering solutions to real problems, covering a wide range of information technology, computing and engineering fields, including the fields of: artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, cryptocurrencies, optimization, cloud computing, the Internet of Things, blockchain, and business analysis, as well as web and application development.”.
Moreover, Dr. Al-Junaid indicated that 150 students were able to complete 50 graduation projects, including 33 applied projects, 15 research projects, including 20 projects by students from the Computer Science Department, 18 projects by students from the Information Systems Department, and 12 projects by students from the Computer Engineering Department, in addition to two projects from the entrepreneurship track, two projects in collaboration with AWS (Amazon Web Services) and three projects from the learning with internship track of the network engineering program.
During the exhibition, it was announced that the project “Indoor Plant Conditions Monitoring System through Amazon Web Services (AWS)” won first place in the Computer Engineering Department, which was done by students: Batool Sayed Ali Alawi and Zainab Hussain Ahmed, in addition to the “Restaurant Management System” project winning first place in the Computer Science Department, which was done by students: Sayed Younis Abdulkhaleq Saeed and Osama Ali Khatam. Morover, the “Smart Parking Payment System” project won first place in the Information Systems Department, which was done by students: Hamad Mahmood Ali, Ali Mohammed Derbas, and Maryam Muneer Jaafar.
It is worth noting that the exhibition is organized by the College of Information Technology at UoB’s headquarters in Sakhir, at the end of each semester, and it included in its latest edition nearly 50 projects in the disciplines of computer science, information systems, and computer engineering, which receive attention from specialists and the institutions of the public and private sectors.
