UoB Wins Best Educational Academy Award at Huawei ICT Competition in the Middle East

The University of Bahrain (UoB) won the Best Educational Academy Award in the 2023-2024 edition of the regional final of the Huawei ICT Championship and Competition in the Middle East and Central Asia (ME & CA), which was hosted by the University of Bahrain under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, during the period from 19 to 21 December 2023.
The Kingdom of Bahrain team also won second place in the computer networks competition, and the team consists of students from the College of Information Technology at the University of Bahrain: Nasser Ali, Sayed Mohammed Adnan, in addition to the student: Fahad Siddiq Abdullah from Bahrain Polytechnic. The team was supervised by Dr. Alauddin Al-Omary, Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering.
On this occasion, Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain, expressed pride in the university students’ achievement, stressing that this victory is added to the list of successive achievements made by students during the past years in various fields and local, regional and international competitions.
Dr. Al-Ansari said that the University of Bahrain is keen to provide an educational environment that supports students’ creativity, especially in the technical field, as it has provided modern and advanced laboratories, in partnership and cooperation with international companies such as Huawei and Amazon. Dr. Al Ansari congratulated the students on this victory, wishing them success and winning the World Finals to be held in China.
A total of 22 teams from 11 countries in the Middle East and Central Asia participated in the competition, including Bahrain, Pakistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
The teams will continue their competition in Bahrain to honor the winners in the Middle East and California and move on to the World Finals to be held in May 2024 in China.
The Huawei ICT Competition aims to work with UNESCO, government authorities, colleges and universities in the Middle East and Central Asia to identify, support and develop future ICT leaders. The program tries to bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace, thereby enhancing future job opportunities for students in the ICT sector by exchanging knowledge on the latest ICT developments, international trends, and hands-on skills development in the latest Huawei technologies.
