UoB Information Technology Students Win Second Place in Telecommunication Regulatory Authority Hackathon

Students of the College of Information Technology at the University of Bahrain won second place in the 2024 Hackathon competition, organized by the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA), in cooperation with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), with the participation of a distinguished group of Bahraini students in information technology disciplines.
The theme of the hackathon focused on developing solutions that comply with the regulatory guidelines set by the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority, where participants competed to create an e-commerce website that is globally accepted and facilitates customers’ access to its customized services from diverse regions and languages, through its support of international domain names (IDNs).
The UoB team created a website that provides dedicated customer service in various languages, and the team included Aqeel Nazim and Sheikh Tamder, as well as Fatima Al-Mirbati, Farah Al-Khunaizi, and Dana Khaled.
The 2024 Hackathon presented an integrated series of AI workshops, presented by some of the most prominent industry experts, provided participants with valuable insights and practical experiences in various AI technologies, including machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision. Attendees also took advantage of the opportunity to harness the enormous potential of AI and seamlessly integrate it into their projects, allowing them to create effective solutions with long-term impact.
The hackathon attracted numerous developers, designers, entrepreneurs, and technology enthusiasts from different regions of Bahrain, as this event succeeded in encouraging teamwork, creativity, and the formulation of new and innovative solutions to current life challenges.
