“Second UoB Arbitration Day”

The College of Law organized the “Second University of Bahrain Arbitration Day”, on Tuesday (April 30, 2024), in cooperation with the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BSDR), under the title: “Practical Problems in Arbitration of Construction Disputes in the Kingdom of Bahrain”, with the participation of a group of lawyers, jurists and experts in arbitration in the Kingdom.

Three sessions were held at the University’s E-Learning Center, the first of which was titled “Construction Disputes between Free Arbitration and Institutional Arbitration”, in which Dr. Kamal Al Hamad, Secretary General of the Gulf Commercial Arbitration Center, Ahmed Husain, Acting CEO of the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution, and Lawyer Ahmed Al-Thukair from Ahmed Al-Thukair & Partners Office, participated in the session, and the session was moderated by Dr. Mohammad Waleed Al-Masri, Associate Professor at the College of Law at the University of Bahrain.

The second session was held under the title: “Mechanisms for Confronting Tricks in Construction Disputes”, with the participation of Dr. Hassan Radhi from Hassan Radhi & Partners, and Dr. Riyadh Mohammed Ibrahim Seyadi, the Director of the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute (JLSI). Directed by Associate Professor at the College of Law at the University of Bahrain, Dr. Amal Kamel Abdullah.

The third session was held titled: “The Role of Engineering Expertise in Settling Construction Disputes”, with the participation of Dr. Eng. Manaf Yousef Hamza from Manaf Hamza Engineering and Survey Company, Dr. Ameera Al-Qayem from Hadi Al-Alawi & Partners Office, and Dr. Eng. Khalid Al-Shafei, arbitrator and expert in civil engineering, and the session was moderated by Assistant Professor at the College of Law at the University of Bahrain, Dr. Manal Al-Sayed.
