Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership Orientation Day UoB Reviews Practice Development Programs for Academics

The Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership at the University of Bahrain organized an Orientation Day to introduce faculty members to its key programs that have obtained international accreditation from the British Higher Education Academy (Advance HE), and the opportunities available to develop their academic practices, and develop their teaching, leadership and professional capabilities.

The unit’s accredited programs are: Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice (PCAP), Certificate of Continuous Professional Development (CPD), and Certificate of Introduction to Teaching in Bahrain (NTB).

The introductory lecture was moderated by Dr. Amal Mohammed Al-Rayes, Director of the UTEL, referring to the unit’s services, its objectives, and training tracks, which include: the accredited programs it offers, specialized workshops, academic leadership skills, requirements of the Professional Standards Framework (PFS), and fellowship levels.

 

 

Dr. Al-Rayes explained the importance of these programs in developing the teaching and learning process, and developing academic performance, in line with the university’s strategies and academic policies, and in line with the emerging requirements in higher education and the labor market, as well as the method of registration in the programs and their requirements, noting that these programs are supported by the Labor Fund “Tamkeen”.

The program coordinators and AHE Fellows, Dr. Hasan Mohsin Al-Wadi from the Bahrain Teachers College, Dr. Noor Nabil Al-Doy from the College of Engineering, and Ms. Tara Faryad Henari from the College of Information Technology, spoke about the details of these programs. They also answered faculty queries at the end of the event.

In addition to its accredited programs, the unit offers the regional pioneering program Academic Leadership Program (ALP) and the She Leads the Women’s Leadership program for women in Various Sectors.
