Presenting Their Ideas to A Group of Experts and Investors UOB Hosts Presentations for Students of The University’s College of Information Technology and Bahrain Polytechnic as Part of The Cloud Innovation Center Projects

The University of Bahrain (UOB) hosted an exhibition that included presentations by students of the UOB’s College of Information Technology and Bahrain Polytechnic as part of the Cloud Innovation Center (CIC) projects, which was launched on UOB’s campus in Sakhir, in partnership with the Labor Fund (Tamkeen) in order to accelerate digital transformation.

As CIC contributed to supporting and motivating more than 220 students over four years, to provide innovative solutions through intensive practical training at the hands of specialized experts, which resulted in 34 innovative models as proposed solutions for developing public sector services.

The students developed their projects using Amazon Internet Services (AWS) technologies in the field of cloud computing, and related artificial intelligence technologies, to provide innovative solutions and prototypes to a number of detected challenges. The students presented their ideas and solutions to a group of experts in the public sector, CEOs of companies, and potential investors.

For his part, Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of UOB, expressed his pleasure with the exhibition’s presentations of practical applications and innovative solutions, which reflect the technological progress and educational excellence offered by CIC, and its investment in resources to promote entrepreneurship and motivate students to innovate.

In turn, Prof. Ciarán Ó Catháin, CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, praised the projects presented that support public sector services and promote the concepts of startup companies in creating a multiplier effect of innovation and entrepreneurship throughout the region.

Moreover, Mr. Nidal Al-Basha, Head of CIC at AWS, noted the Center’s role in supporting a comprehensive educational process in the field of education, technology, leadership and innovation. In addition to enabling students to access the latest technologies, analyze data and run simulations, to gain practical experience and discover innovative projects.

It is worth noting that the students presented four innovative projects to the audience, namely the “Lingui” platform project for assessing language proficiency, the artificial intelligence tool EduScribe for self-evaluation for education and training institutes, the “Solar Map” website for digital satellite photography using artificial intelligence, and AWS in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in addition to the Dash Cop application to identify and report vehicles’ violations.
