A student majoring in architecture at the College of Engineering at the University of Bahrain designed the Bahrain Media City project, which is an integrated center that serves the media sector and strengthens ties between those working in the sector in the Kingdom.
Zainab AbdulHussain Aldhaif’s project was selected among the winning projects in the Architecture and Interior Design graduation projects exhibition in the category of the Bachelor of Architecture program at the College of Engineering.
According to Aldhaif, the design includes photography and recording studios, co-working and individual workspaces, theaters and exhibitions, production offices, an educational section with workshops, and classrooms.
Zainab Aldhaif said: “The design aims to improve the outputs of the Bahraini media, and encourage young people to be creative and innovative in this field,” and continued: “I chose a topic related to media for the graduation project, due to the efforts of the Ministry of Information in developing local media outputs such as television programs, series, short films, as well as audio and visual radio programs, because of its impact on the image of the Kingdom of Bahrain and its people at the Arab and international levels.”
She pointed out that the project works to strengthen the bond between Bahraini content creators, including actors, screenwriters, directors and producers, as it focuses on providing spaces that allow all users to interact with each other to share their ideas and experiences in the field.
The project design took a contemporary approach, in terms of parallel straight lines, balance through symmetry between the two sides, as well as the use of opaque glass, which allows sunlight to enter indirectly and unobtrusively to users.
Aldhaif expressed her satisfaction with the outcome of the evaluation of her project, expressing her belief that this project can be implemented, as it greatly serves the media sector.
