Bahrain to host international Higher Education Summit

The 8th QS MAPLE, Middle East and Africa’s Annual Strategic Summit for the Advancement of University Excellence in all its forms, will be held in Bahrain from March 4 to 6. The Higher Education Summit will host over 300 delegates and exhibitors from over 45 countries for 3 full days at the Gulf Hotel.

The University of Bahrain as a strategic partner of the conference will host the gala dinner at the UOB campus on the 4th of March. This is the first time that QS who are one of the most respected university rankings organizations are holding the event in Bahrain.

The summit signifies a clear shift towards Bahrain being viewed as an education hub within the region and further. With delegates, attending from USA, Europe, Africa and Asia it is also the biggest and most international higher education conference ever held in Bahrain, which also represents a boost for local hotels.

University of Bahrain President Prof Riyad Hamzah said, “The QS summit being hosted in Bahrain is a major coup and represents the strides that UOB has taken recently to gain a wider international reputation and to improve both academically and in research terms. The summit gives Bahrain a great opportunity to showcase both the country and the higher education sector, UOB is delighted to be the strategic partner for this conference and we also expect the economic impact to be significant”

This is the first of three major events being led by UOB, In April the university will host a research symposium with partners that include Oxford, Aston and Loughborough universities. In May, UOB is also hosting an international conference on Sustainability.
