UoB and KHUK Sign Cooperation Agreement on Training Health Sciences Students

The University of Bahrain signed a Cooperation Agreement with King Hamad University Hospital (KHUH) on March 13, 2018. The Agreement aims at supporting healthcare education by providing professional training to students of the College of Health Sciences.

The agreement was signed by Prof. Riyad Y. Hamzah, President of the University of Bahrain, and the KHUH Chief Executive Officer General Dr. Shaikh Salman bin Atteya-Allah Al Khalifa, at the hospital headquarters in Busaiteen. The ceremony was attended by officials from both sides.

Under the agreement, students of the College of Health Sciences will have access to the hospital facilities through structured training programs that enhance effectiveness of instruction and student learning.

Major General Dr. Shaikh Salman bin Atteya-Allah Al Khalifa said that having access to the training sites and facilities of the hospital will enrich students’ knowledge and skills in their fields of specialization, considering the vital role played by the Hospital in Bahrain.

Prof. Hamzah expressed his pride in this Agreement, pointing out that it comes as a fruitful cooperation between the University and King Hamad University Hospital, where the two parties have already established collaboration at various levels. ‘It provides our students at the College of Health Sciences with the best practices in this vital field, at the hands of specialists, and enable them to apply and merge knowledge gained in academic studies to “real-world” employment,’ Prof. Hamzah added.

Prof. Hamzah also offered his congratulations on the opening of the new KHUH Oncology Center, praising the facilities and services it provides to the public. He added that this center is a great achievement.

On 21 September 2016, the two parties had signed a Cooperation Agreement introducing an Associate Diploma in Patient Care.
