For the 2nd Consecutive Year: UoB Wins Best Stand Award in Bahrain International Garden Show 2019

The University of Bahrain participated in the Bahrain International Garden Show 2019 (BIGS), held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the continued support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of the King and President of the Consultative Council for the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD). ‘A Promising Career Choice’ was the theme for the show organised by NIAD and held from 21 to 24 February.

Her Excellency Shaikha Maram Bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary General of NIAD presented UoB with the Best Stand Award.

Prof. Riyad Y. Hamzah, President of the University of Bahrain, expressed his delight at receiving the Best Stand Award, saying this win adds to the University’s list of achievements.

UoB always tries to be at the forefront by providing the best knowledge in topics related to gardening, agriculture, good practices, the environment and sustainability, added Prof. Hamzah.

Prof. Mohammed Mustafa El Hilou, Dean of the College of Science, said that the Award would encourage UoB to create better stand design ideas in the future. The design this year focused on promoting careers in agriculture to meet the growing demand for skilled experts particularly in agricultural technology and sustainable agricultural practices.

Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al Ansari, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Supervisor of the Design Team, said that the stand looked very simple from outside, but two large screens were installed inside to show information about agriculture. There were also interactive screens for adults and children. Visitors to the show were impressed by the products and information exhibited.
