Dr. Al Kaabi Discusses Cultural Making in Bahrain in the Riyadh International Book Fair

News 31 03 2019 1aNews 31 03 2019 1cDr. Dheya Abdulla Al Kaabi, Assistant Professor of Arabic Literature and Islamic Studies at the University of Bahrain, participated in the Riyadh International Book Fair. She presented a paper entitled: “The Making of Culture in Bahrain: from Initiation to Universal Recognition”

The Riyadh International Book Fair was held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud from 13 to 23 March, with the University of Bahrain as the Guest of Honor.

In her paper, Dr. Al Kaabi presented a comprehensive survey of Bahraini culture from the middle of the nineteenth century to date. The paper highlighted the role of thought leaders, educational and cultural institutions such as the University of Bahrain, Ministry of Culture, Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, Bahrain Writers Association, cultural forums and theaters. She also discussed the influence of knowledge economy in accordance with the UNESCO cultural and creative industries and their role in modern times.

Dr. Al Kaabi signed her newly published book, entitled “The Encyclopaedia of Bahraini Folktales: Thousands and Thousands of Tales.” The book proved to be popular among visitors to the fair.
