University of Bahrain Signs MoU with Dell Technologies to develop a modern, future-ready learning environment

University of Bahrain (UoB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dell Technologies, further cementing a landmark project to provide PC as a Service (PCaaS) to its teachers, students and relevant stakeholders. This collaboration is a step towards amplifying the benefits of digital transformation initiatives across the education sector and how it can be done with speed, efficiency and effectiveness.

The MoU was signed at GITEX Technology Week 2019 by Mr. Wael Mohamed Attia, Director, Information Technology at University of Bahrain, and Mr. Sohaib Mohamed AlAbdi, Head of Networking, Security and Infrastructure and Mohammed Amin, Senior Vice President Middle East, Russia, Africa and Turkey from Dell Technologies.
The university will enhance its performance and efficiency through the adoption of Dell Technologies’ next generation IT infrastructure with the aim of developing a first-rate education system and contributing to Bahrain’s transformation to a knowledge-based economy.

Through strategic partnerships with the private sector and the implementation of smart initiatives, UoB has been working closely with Dell Technologies, towards providing an optimal and sustainable learning environment. Recognizing the importance of developing a culture of innovation, UoB has also embarked on digital transformation initiatives to support educational institutions and staff and achieve the highest international standards of learning.

Faced with the challenges of rapidly increasing workload, streamlining administrative and IT processes as well as the requirement to manage, store and protect data, UoB was looking to looking to create a modern, future-ready environment that education institutions need to stay ahead of the curve. The digital agenda of the university involved modernization of IT infrastructure and enhanced proactive security frameworks to deliver greater business agility and a more flexible, programmable approach to managing data services.

To achieve this goal, UoB selected Dell EMC’s VxRAIL for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solution. At present, Dell Technologies has successfully completed the deployment of its VxRAIL for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solution for the UoB. The technology helps provide a compelling desktop experience to students and teachers.

The new software-defined model will simplify IT operations while also consolidating and standardizing the university’s infrastructure, optimize operations and reducing costs. Complementing this digital transition, is UoBs ability to empower its students and workforce with technology. student and workforce empowerment. Productivity increases when users can securely access their desktops and applications from their preferred device at the times and places they choose to work. With universities students opting to use their own devices, access to approved university resources can be obtained at any time via an application.

In partnership with Dell Technologies, UoB is building an efficient and integrated education environment, powered by infrastructure capable of supporting growth, to enable the development of the future workforce.
