UOB Business Incubator Introduces its Students to the Entrepreneurial Environment in the Kingdom
The Advisor for Promotion and Investment at the Economic Development Board, Dr. Simon Galpin, emphasized the role of the Board in supporting and helping Bahraini entrepreneurs, pointing to the services provided by the Board and how advantageous they may be, the entrepreneurship environment in Bahrain and the future vision of this environment, pointing to the role of the Economic Development Board in contribution with leading business companies in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
This was during a remote meeting held by the Business Incubation Center at the University of Bahrain (UOB), as part of a summer program for students in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship, in which a number of experts in various disciplines participated.
The Director of the Fintech and Innovation Unit at the Central Bank of Bahrain, Yasmeen Al-Sharaf, explained the Unit’s role in supporting entrepreneurs who have projects related to financial technology (Fintech), the procedures of adopting the project as an authorized institution in the Kingdom, and the Unit’s role in examining applications for joining by analyzing and studying innovative and new services or products to be incubated by the Bank.
While the Founder and CEO of (Tarabut Gateway), Abdullah Al-Moayyed, presented his experience with the support of the Central Bank of Bahrain as the first start-up entrepreneur to benefit from the services of the Fintech and Innovation Unit at the Center. Pointing out that his project was based on the idea of creating an application that links all bank accounts that an individual owns in all banks under the umbrella of one application, and indicating the difficulties he faced and overcame, stating that “your idea may change in proportion to the customer’s desire, and you may face many obstacles, but do not give up.”
