The Minister of Works Sponsors the Preparatory Forum for the Second International Conference on Sustainability and Resilience

Manama, 09 February / BNA / Under the patronage of His Excellency Eng. Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, and in cooperation with the University of Bahrain (UOB), the activities of the Preparatory Forum for the Second International Conference on Sustainability and Resilience will be launched in the Kingdom of Bahrain during the period from 25 to 26 February 2020, with the organization of Itqan Development Company at the Ritz-Carlton Bahrain, under the slogan (Technology and Innovation in Building Designs).

His Excellency the Minister of Works stated that “Holding this Forum comes at a time when Bahrain is witnessing tangible developments and achievements in the field of sustainability and smart buildings and their technologies within its ambitious vision and the directives of His Majesty the King to lead regionally and to compete globally. As the Forum aims to shed light on the challenges facing the construction and real estate development sector and related bodies, such as design offices and execution and operation companies in relation to the technologies used to manage their projects and investments, as design techniques and integration with implementation, operation and maintenance have become a major factor in reducing materials waste, preserving the environment and achieving the largest possible economic return, which in turn is reflected in enhancing environmental, economic and social sustainability and achieving advanced domestic product.”

Moreover, the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning confirmed that its pivotal role in supporting such forums and conferences would contribute to educating the engineering market of the requirements of the next phase of transitioning towards the fourth industrial revolution and its technologies, noting that this Forum will focus on one of its main principles, which is in line with the Ministry’s strategy to adopt the Fourth Industrial Revolution in building information modeling (BIM).

Also, Eng. Ayman Al-Jund Al-Sururi, CEO of Itqan Development (the organizing company), spoke on the idea of the Forum, saying that the professional specialization of the company and the academic expertise that work in mastering the development was the main reason behind adopting the idea of the Forum, in addition to that deep belief in the expertise of Bahraini cadres and the importance of developing it by promoting the level of sustainable engineering work at all levels, feeding the local market with global expertise to be localized as soon as possible in order to be able to catch up in engineering technology for the construction sector, and praising national expertise.
